How many are listed

As of August 2026, PlaneFox lists 122 Cirrus SR20s, 234 SR22s and 108 SR22Ts. At brand level Cirrus shows 490 listings, 289 of them with a published asking price, a median of EUR 431,000 and a middle half from EUR 275,000 to EUR 689,000. Typical build years run from 2003 to 2023.

That brand median covers all three models and every currency the listings are quoted in, so it sets a starting point rather than a price for any one aircraft. Read the per-model pages for the current spread on each.

201 of the 490 Cirrus listings carry no published price, so around 40 per cent of the market has to be asked directly. Budget time for enquiries rather than filtering on price.

The SR22 also appears in the five most listed aircraft in two of the larger European markets: 13 of the 466 listings in Germany and 11 of the 266 in France. In Poland the SR22T appears instead, at 4 of 145 listings.

The engine is the difference

FAA type certificate data sheet A00009CH approves the SR20 with either a Continental IO-360-ES or a Lycoming IO-390-C3B6. The SR22 uses the Continental IO-550-N, rated 310 hp for take-off. The SR22T uses the turbocharged Continental TSIO-550-K, rated 315 hp. The same data sheet sets a 12,000 flight hour airframe life limit on all three.

That progression sets everything else. The SR22 carries more, climbs better and burns more fuel. The SR22T adds turbocharging, which buys altitude performance and adds turbocharger, wastegate and intercooler components to the maintenance list. The SR20 is the cheapest of the three to buy and to feed.

CAPS is a shared cost on a calendar

The Cirrus Airframe Parachute System is part of the aircraft rather than an option, and its components run on a calendar clock rather than on hours. That makes the repack a dated event: two airframes a year apart in build date can be a year apart on this clock no matter how much either has flown.

Take the current interval and the scope of the work from Cirrus service documentation for the specific serial number, and take the actual due date from the aircraft's records in writing. Then get a written quote from a Cirrus service centre, because the cost is large enough to change what the aircraft is worth to you. Do that before you compare two aircraft on asking price, not after.

Choosing between them

Take the SR20 when the mission is training, local flying and two or three people, and when the budget has to absorb a CAPS repack without strain. It is the cheaper aircraft on every recurring line.

Take the SR22 when you need four seats with usable payload and the range to make cross-country trips practical. The market is also deeper: 234 listings against 122 means more chance of finding the equipment fit and the maintenance history you want rather than settling for what is available.

Take the SR22T when the flying is regularly at high altitude or over high terrain. It is the most expensive of the three to buy, and the listed SR22T fleet is younger on average than the listed SR22 fleet, so compare build years before reading any price gap as the cost of turbocharging.

Diligence points common to all three

Compare live inventory on Cirrus SR20 listings, Cirrus SR22 listings and the full Cirrus range, and against the wider single-engine market, where the median asking price is EUR 144,000 across 2,183 priced listings.
