Description
Designed by North American Aviation, the T-6 is known by a variety of designations depending on the model and operating air force. The United States Army Air Corps (USAAC) and USAAF designated it as the AT-6, the United States Navy the SNJ, and British Commonwealth air forces as the Harvard.
The 1st flight of the Harvard/T-6 was on the 1st of April 1935. A total of 15,495 were built. The Harvard was used by 66 countries all over the world primarily as a training but sometimes pressed into combat aircraft. They were extensively used up until as late as 1996 when retired by the SAAF.
This Harvard was assigned to the Royal Canadian Air Force and issued with RCAF serial number 20365. A total of 555 Harvard’s were built by the Canadian Car & Foundry.
