Howdy! I've owned this Baron for about 4 years and it has treated me great. I hate to part ways with her but I'm not finding enough of a need or time to justify having it long term.
I know the high time engines might give you pause, they did for me as well. However, both engines received "bottom overhauls" apx 1100 hours ago due to a prop strike and then a couple years later a "top overhaul" was completed putting the cylinders at about 900 hours.
They has worked flawlessly for the over 225 hours I've flown it and probably have much more time to give. I've averaged about 1qt of oil per 8-10 hours of flight time and it cruises great at LOP getting 170 KTAS at 20gph or 185 at 26gph if you prefer ROP.
However, when the time does come, you'll get to decide on the overhaul that YOU want and ensure that the break in is to YOUR standards.
I have upgraded the autopilot to the gold standard for and you wont be disappointed in the GFC 600s performance. It definitely give you the feel of flying a fancy big boy airplane.
Below is a Dropbox link to logbooks and more photos/videos. Feel free to reach out with any questions or to set up a visit at Spirit of St. Louis airport KSUS.
I also have a link that should take you to my flight data that has been downloaded to savvy aviation's system. You can view all the stats these engines are currently putting out.
